From Climate Emergency to Climate Action

A rather arduous interim target of reducing the global greenhouse gas emissions by 45% as compared to 2010 has triggered the Climate Emergency panic button, more so when it has been acknowledged that the results achieved thus far will only result in less than a 1 per cent reduction in emissions by 2030. This has accelerated Climate Action across the globe in terms of concerted efforts to meet the ambitious target of the Paris Agreement i.e. limiting global warming to 1.5°C. The world is rebooting its strategy in the wake of Articles 4 and 6 of the Paris Agreement to effectively achieve Net Zero commitments in a time bound manner.

As Lao Tzu has beautifully put it, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step and change kicks in the moment someone takes that very first step! It is all about doing your bit! Our foresighted leadership and able management had envisioned the steadfast journey towards going green and helping others go green much before Kyoto Protocol came into effect when they pioneered and forayed in the Renewable Energy sector way back in the early nineties.

We have had and continue to have a long and gratifying tryst with the entire spectrum of the carbon value chain right from how Renewable Energy Project equipment is designed, manufactured, the project is commissioned, registered and validated under various carbon mechanisms, operated and maintained and how Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) are verified on a regular basis by international certifying agencies/ standards, subsequently how carbon offsets are issued and finally traded in the global market!
